Sad News - Shihan David Eayrs
We are very sad to announce the death of Shihan David Eayrs on Friday 17th May in a hospital in Moscow at the age of 80 after suffering from an illness. Shihan David was the founder of Kenshinkai Yoshinkan Aikido UK, and along with Sensei Ted Stratton established Yoshinkan Aikido in the UK in the 1960s. Many senior yoshinkan aikido instructors in the UK and Russia started their training with Shihan David. He moved to Moscow in 1993 to further develop Yoshinkan Aikido. His death is a great loss to Kenshinkai Aikido, the Yoshinkan Aikido world and all the students that he inspired.

Train At Your Own Pace!
Please remember that training is at your own pace! If you find something during the warm-up/training difficult to do, due to health or physical conditions then don't do it! Members are constantly advised to work at their own pace and skip anything they feel unable to do, however many chose to ignore this advice, over-estimating their abilities. It is better to train/work-out at a slower pace than not train/work-out at all!

Assistance for Junior Classes
Please remember that any adult member ranked 4th Kyu + can offer to assist with the junior classes. No previous experience needed as you will be mentored (DBS check will need to be done). You do not need to attend every junior class but when you do attend you need to be there in time to assist with putting out the mats (Sunday 9.30am, Friday 6.30pm). Sensei Richard and Dee do not have the luxury of missing any classes whether through sickness, holiday, injury due to the current lack of assistance with the junior classes. So if you feel you can give up some time to help shape the next generation please have a chat with Sensei Richard. Osu!

Please respect this when attending classes and remember that you are not "buying" your instructors time they are freely giving their time as volunteers in order to teach you Aikido and help you become fitter and healthier at the same time.
